+++ Bargfrede back after 10 months out! The last time Philipp Bargfrede featured in a Bundesliga game was at the end of January this year, but on Sunday he made his comeback. “On the one hand I'm happy to have returned to the pitch, but on the other the result was very disappointing,” acknowledged Bargfrede the day after the Frankfurt game. The defensive midfielder was subbed on for Florian Grillitsch with 18 minutes to go in this weekend’s match. “90 minutes would have probably been too much,” explained the 28 year old. “Just playing was very important for me and gave me a positive feeling.” He’ll be hoping to get more minutes under his belt in Werder’s upcoming encounters, starting with next Saturday’s Nordderby. +++

+++ Competition between the sticks. Felix Wiedwald was in goal at the weekend against his former team Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Jaroslav Drobny returned to training last week after recovering from a hand injury, giving Wiedwald competition for the starting spot. Alexander Nouri wouldn’t reveal who’ll start in goal in the upcoming Nordderby, “we’ll start the week, analyse the situation and take a decision together,” commented Nouri on Sunday evening. “We’ll have to wait to see how things look with Jaro, whether he can train the whole week and whether his hand holds out,” continued the coach, who didn't want to make a hasty decision. +++

+++ Eggestein back in the squad: Youth team striker Johannes Eggestein picked up a painful bruise to his thigh in first-team training before the international break and trained individually with Justin Eilers last week, however, the 18 year old returned to training with the rest of his teammates on Monday morning. “I felt good after having a two-week break and it was nice to get back to training with the team again,” said the talented Werder forward. +++

+++ A sign from Grillitsch: He exploited the space, shot and scored with a sumptuous finish - Florian Grillitsch’s goal against Eintracht Frankfurt was simply delightful. Unfortunately, that was the only event of the match that gave the Werder fans anything to cheer. After an intense 90 minutes, the Green-Whites had to stomach conceding a last-minute winner to Frankfurt. However, it was not only the 21-year-old’s first goal of the season, but also a slap in the face of his critics. “Obviously I was really happy when I scored the goal. It came during a week in which I have taken some criticism because I haven’t been finding my form. Criticism is part and parcel of the job but I am still a young player so it is not unusual to have a few bad games,” said Grillitsch. +++
