++ A first for Bauer: Despite the defeat to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Werder left-back Robert Bauer has at least a small cause to celebrate. The 22-year-old scored his first goal in the game in Werder colours, but he wasn’t overcome with the utmost of joy given the 5-3 final scoreline: “Of course I had imagined it would go rather differently, but apparently it had to happen in a crazy game like todays. Even though the team’s achievements are more important than individual ones, and though I would have rather won of course, I’m happy to have scored.” +++

++ Emotional farewell: It was a different story for Santiago García in the recent game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The Argentinean left-back has played his final game in the Weser-Stadion in Werder colours. He has played 99 games for the Green-whites, scoring five and setting up ten goals during this time. The 28-year-old made it clear after the game exactly how much SV Werder means to him, saying, “I will tell my children that I’m proud to have played here.” +++

++ Compatriots: Florian Kainz and Florian Grillitsch were in the spotlight last Sunday for reasons unrelated to football. As revealed via Instagram, the two Werder players are both fans of Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem, and joined him as he faced off against Rafael Nadal in the final of the ATP Madrid. Unfortunately for Kainz and Grillitsch, Thiem was defeated by the Spanish 30-year-old 7-6 and 6-4 after two sets. +++

++ Moisander honours the champions: A few kids had a lot to look forward to ahead of Werder’s final home game of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season, due to the final of the EWE Cup playing out in an exciting game. During the victory ceremony, the kids were amazed yet again: Werder centre-back Niklas Moisander was on the scene to hand over the trophy to the winners, before giving a few tips to the E-Juniors. +++

++ Danish derby time: Werder’s newly signed Ludwig Augustinsson watched the Danish derby wherein his current club FC Copenhagen took on Bröndby IF last weekend. The capital city side won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kusk after 13 minutes. Augustinsson cheered on his team from the stands, as he was not a part of the squad +++

++ A new chapter: A lot of former Werder players are hard at work as they look to their future off the pitch. Tim Borowski, as well as Miroslav Klose, Simon Rolfes and Patrick Owomoyela acquired their DFB Elite Youth Trainer licenses. Congratulations! +++
