++ Great individual performances: Head coach Alexander Nouri emphasised how well his team performed on Saturday in almost every interview after the win against Hertha BSC. Meanwhile, other experts have highlighted the performances of individuals. Two players really shone for the Green-Whites in particular on Saturday. Max Kruse was voted Player of the Week by Bundesliga.de after his winning goal for Werder Kruse was selected in Kicker’s team of the week, alongside teammate Robert Bauer. Robert Bauer was also selected in ARD Sportschau’s team of the week. +++

++ Fitness tests: The players will be completing individual fitness tests from Monday to Wednesday this week. Axel Dörrfuß will be supervising the tests to calculate their lactate thresholds and their oxygen uptake. “These test were planned a long time ago and they are an important part of our preparations ahead of the winter break,” explained Alexander Nouri. The coaching staff have been putting a lot of emphasis on fitness in training over the last few weeks. “Fitness is a fundamental part of football. The players are making good progress with their fitness. But of course it’s important that we focus on all areas of football. We need to find a good balance,” said Nouri. +++

++ Successful operation: Izet Hajrovic’s has already got his thumbs up once again. The unfortunate Werder man posted a photo of himself on his hospital bed on Saturday evening after he picked up his injury during the Ingolstadt match. The good news is that the 25-year-old has had a successful operation on his knee. The surgery went ‘very positively’, going on to say “now it’s about working towards coming back. I will ready again soon and will definitely be stronger." WERDER.DE wishes him a speedy recovery! +++

++ Champion Valdez: Nelson Valdez has done it! The former Werder man has won the North American MLS title with Seattle Sounders. Valdez and his team beat Toronto FC 5-4 on penalties. Valdez did have to come off after 73 minutes due to injury, but he was still able to celebrate properly with his teammates. Congratulations on winning the title, Nelson! +++

++ An aerodynamic haircut: The fans weren’t the only ones surprised by Serge Gnabry’s new hairstyle, as the 21 year old stepped on to the field of play without his golden locks on Saturday evening in Berlin. Werder’s sporting director, Frank Baumannm, explained after the game in the capital that Gnabry actually gave himself the new trim the night before. Clemens Fritz also commented on his new haircut, “I think I saw today that Serge was a little quicker,” joked the captain after the win against Hertha. +++
