+++ “Eile” back in Bremen: Werder’s new signing Justin Eilers is back in Bremen after his operation in Berlin. The 28-year-old had the procedure one week ago, which had become necessary after persistent groin problems. “The operation went well. I hope that things quickly starts to improve,” Eilers told WERDER.DE. “I will now begin rehabilitation training in Bremen and hope to be fit again as soon as possible.” Eilers has not been able to join in first-team training since his move to Werder due to injury. WERDER.DE would like to wish him a speedy recovery! +++

+++ Kruse travels to the Czech Republic: Max Kruse’s lateral collateral ligament is continuing to recover. After a successful operation, Werder’s new signing spent a lot of time resting and it was not until recently that he has been able to move his leg slightly. “The rehab has been going well so far. I'm able do more day by day so I’m feeling very optimistic,” said Kruse in a live video on his official Facebook page. Kruse is travelling to Rozvadov in the Czech Republic to take part in a poker tournament in order to take a break from things. “It’s about giving my mind some time off, and that is exactly what the event will do,” he said, explaining his decision. Sporting director Frank Baumann confirmed that the trip was agreed upon. “Max will even have his physiotherapist with him so his rehabilitation will in no way be compromised.” Kruse is not just playing poker to relax his mind, but also for a good cause, with a portion of his winnings going to the “Viva con Agua” charity, who campaign for clean drinking water throughout the world. +++

+++ Throwback Thursday with Prödl: Just in time for this weekend's maiden home game in 2016/17, the former Werder centre back posted a memory from his time with the Green-Whites on social media. Sebastian Prödl recalls his winning goal on matchday 28 of the 2014/15 season in Hannover on his official Facebook page under the hashtag “#tbt”.  That game between Werder and 96 was an absolute thriller, with the match ending in SVW’s favour thanks to Prödl. The Austrian snatched a last-minute winner for his team to give them a 2-1 victory. For Werder, it was the result that all but secured Bundesliga safety and you can see the relief on the fans’ faces in the photo as they broke into jubilant celebrations. +++
