+++ Eilers' first appearance: Justin Eilers finally made his debut in a Werder shirt. The forward, who has been out with injury for several months, was in the starting XI and put in an impressive showing. Florian Kohlfeldt praised last season’s king goalscorer in the third division for a “very good debut”. He added, “Eiler combined really well with Melvyn Lorenzen on the wings, that all came off brilliantly. He also hit the post. It was a good performance from him,” Kohfeldt told WERDER.TV. Eilers was brought off after 67 minutes. +++

+++ Kruse's landmark goal: Max Kruse’s penalty to make it 2-1 against FCA put him into the Green-White history books. The attacker scored Werder’s 3,000th Bundesliga goal, exactly 53 years and 165 days after Willi Soya netted Bremen’s first ever in the top flight. However, according to the actual records, this goal was only Werder’s 2,999 due to a technicality. Therefore, Kruse and Co. will have the chance to score the “real” 3,000th goal, hopefully this time it contributes to three points. +++

+++ Fritz' brief appearance: While the defensive line-up looked somewhat improvised against Augsburg due to injuries to Niklas Moisander and Santiago García’s suspension, head coach Alexander Nouri had no such personnel problems when picking his midfield. “We have a good selection of midfielders. It was also a close decision to not play Maxi Eggestein from the beginning. Clemens hasn’t been around the past week so we decided to play Thomas Delaney, Serge Gnabry and Zlatko Junuzovic,” noted sporting director Frank Baumann. +++

+++ Hope for Pizarro: The game against FCA arrived too soon for Claudio Pizarro, but there’s optimism the Peruvian will be able to feature in next weekend’s home clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach. “Claudio will return to training this week and will be an option for the game this coming Saturday,” explained Frank Baumann on Sunday evening. +++
