+++ It’s the beginning of the international break and 14 Werder players have joined up with their national teams. Alexander Nouri had a smaller group to oversee in training on Tuesday morning in his first week as Werder Bremen head coach. 14 squad players were present in training, including Eric Oelschlägel and Osman Manneh. Lamine Sané trained individually this morning but will join the rest of the team in the afternoon training session. U23 players Thore Jacobsen, Jesper Verlaat, Mohamed Aidara and Luca Zander took part in the first team training session to make up the numbers. U17 goalkeeper Luca Plogmann also took part in training. +++

+++ Friendly vs. St. Pauli: Despite the international break, there’s no rest for the Green-Whites not on international duty, as Alexander Nouri’s side will face second division side FC St. Pauli on Thursday to keep as much match sharpness through the break as possible. Although it’s just a friendly, it will be a special encounter for Werder players Lennart Thy, Fin Bartels, Max Kruse and assistant coach Florian Bruns, as they all used to play for this week’s opponents. +++

+++ Birthday for Werder legend: The 3rd October is traditionally a day of celebration for Germans. For Werder fans however, there was also another cause to celebrate, as Claudio Pizarro celebrated his birthday. The hugely successful Werder striker turned 38 yesterday. As the oldest outfield player in the Bundesliga, the Peruvian has great reason to celebrate given he is also Werder’s record goalscorer. The Werder legend must surely already have one birthday wish, returning to fitness as soon as possible. Werder.DE would like to wish Claudio a very happy birthday! +++
