+++ Special praise from the coach: Florian Kainz needed just two minutes on the pitch on Saturday against RB Leipzig to register his first Bundesliga goal. The Austrian came close to getting his first goal in the top division last week in Leverkusen, but he was denied by Bernd Leno and had also been flagged offside. Head coach Alexander Nouri praised ‘Kainzi’ for his all-round performances in the last few weeks, not just for his first Bundesliga goal. “Flo is training really well and at a very high level. He gives everything everyday and was rewarded with his goal on Saturday. I’m pleased for him,” said the Werder head coach. Kainz himself was also happy with his performance as he explained to WERDER.TV. +++

+++ Clean sheet on 50th appearance: Felix Wiedwald couldn’t have imagined a better 50th appearance in the Werder shirt. The Green-Whites didn’t only pick up all three points against Leipzig, but the newly titled ‘WiedWALL’ managed to shut out the highly thought of attacking players of Leipzig. It was the third time in the last five matches that Werder’s number 42 managed to keep a clean sheet. Keep going, Felix! +++

+++ Top marks: Zlatko Junuzovic put in a first-class performance on Saturday. He gave his side the lead with a hammer of a shot and set-up Florian Grillitsch from a free-kick before also laying the foundations for the third. The Austria international also covered more ground than any other player on the pitch. Therefore, it’s no surprise that he, alongside teammate Thomas Delaney, made it into the matchday kicker-eleven. ‘Zladdi’ was also voted on Bundesliga.de as the player of the matchday. Alongside him, Mario Gomez (VfL Wolfsburg), Anthony Modeste (1.FC Köln) and Thomas Müller (FC Bayern) made up the contenders for the vote which Werder’s midfielder won. +++

+++ Strong mentality: He fought, hassled and was just about everywhere on the pitch. Thomas Delaney certainly made his mark on his return to the starting XI. The 25-year-old didn’t only look good, but the statistics showed he won 70% of his duals and had the most ball possession of anyone on the pitch. “Thomas is a very important player for us because of his mentality. He’s the sort of person who always wants to win, is vocal on the pitch and wants to encourage his teammates,” said head coach Alexander Nouri at the end of the match against Leipzig. +++

+++ Milos goes social:
Many Werder players have been active on social media for a while. One of them, however, opened his new page just last week. Milos Veljkovic can now be followed by fans on Facebook and Instagram. Check it out! +++
