+++ World Cup qualification I: Werder players on international duty have had a tendency to do well in San Marino. After Serge Gnabry scored a hat-trick on his Germany debut back in November in this tiny area of the world, Theodor Gebre Selassie also got on the scoresheet against San Marino for the Czech Republic on his 41st appearance to get his second goal for his country. The right-back also had a hand in the first goal of the night, setting up teammate Antonin Barak. The Eastern Europeans eventually ran out 6-0 winners and Gebre Selassie played for the entire 90 minutes. The Czech Republic lie in third place in Group C, which is topped by Germany and followed by Northern Ireland, who are two points ahead of the Czechs. +++

+++ World Cup qualification II: Thomas Delaney also featured whilst away with Denmark. The Danes took on Christoph Daum’s Romania in a crucial clash in Group E. It was Delaney’s first match for his country since his move to Werder in January as he made his 14th appearance for Denmark. The Scandinavian dominated the game in Cluj, particularly in the final minutes but the score remained 0-0 in a result that really helps neither team. Poland top group E whilst Delaney’s Denmark sit level on points with Montenegro in third place. +++

+++ Recharge the batteries for Freiburg: The Werder boys used their weekend off in many different ways. Whilst Luca Caldirola, Florian Kainz and Lamine Sané went back to their home towns, Robert Bauer went to Barcelona to enjoy some relaxing time in the sun. Serge Gnabry on the other hand spent his weekend in Berlin for a commercial event with Nike Airmax. Preparations for the next Bundesliga away fixture against SC Freiburg get underway today, Monday 27th March. Players on international duty will return to Bremen over the course of the week. +++

+++ Preparing for Kiel: In a true Bremen clash, the Werder U23s will take on Holstein Kiel in the Liga 3 in their next fixture. Florian Kohfeldt’s side will take on Bremer SV on Tuesday, 28th March, the current league leaders. +++
