Rudi Völler also found the back of the net four times in Werder’s 6-0 thrashing over Borussia Dortmund in 1984. Honorary team captain Arnold “Pico” Schütz hit four in his side’s 5-2 win over Borussia Neunkirchen and Hugo Dausmann hit the same total back in 1965/66 in the 7-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. +++

+++ The wait is over – Thomas Delaney is ready to return. The Danish midfielder is expected to rejoin first-team training on Tuesday. “I’m delighted to be training again and hopefully I’ll be fit to face Hertha at the weekend,” said Delaney, who has recovered from a hamstring strain. Finally he’ll be able to be in and amongst the action rather than merely watching his teammates on the television or in the stands. “That has been really tough. I’ve tried to stay calm but that has been pretty impossible towards the end of games. It may be that the odd item was thrown in my room,” admitted Delaney with a grin. +++
