++ Time off: Some Werder players certainly need some time off to catch their breath after last week. The training team have granted the SVW’s players three days off to recover after the intense run of games which featured three Bundesliga matches in a week. “It’s good that we’ve got a few days off and can enjoy a long week before the game on Sunday. It means that we can regenerate and prepare as best as possible for the Nordderby,” said Fin Bartels. Numerous Werder players will be taking advantage of their time off to take a short break away. While Florian Grillitsch relaxes in Wien, Santiago Garcia is off to the sunny Palma de Mallorca. Others will remain in Bremen to recharge their batteries. Theodor Gebre Selassie will switch off with his family at the ‘Bremer Osterwiese’. +++

++ On a streak: SV Werder remain unbeaten in eight games. With that, the Green-Whites cemented not only their positive trend upwards, but it was also the first time in six years since they’ve enjoyed a similar run. SVW have acquired 20 of a possible 24 points from their last eight games. They face Hamburger SV in the Weser-Stadion on Sunday, 16th April, 2017. +++

++ Staying positive despite bad luck: Only just getting back in the thick of things – and then injured again: it’s just not Luca Caldirola’s season. The centre-back suffered a broken foot to start of the season, and after months of fighting to come back, he finally managed to do so on Friday. He suffered another broken bone in his foot in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt, which has ruled him out for the rest of the season. But his positive attitude and determination to get back out onto the pitch hasn’t changed. The 26-year-old tweeted that he’ll always stay positive, and he also posted a photo on Instagram with team doctor Phillip Heitman which featured the ironic and humorous caption: “Best friends of the season”. WERDER.DE said: “All the best with your recovery Luca, and stay as strong as we’ve always known you to be!” +++

++ Premier: Florian Kainz was voted the Volkswagen Man of the Match for his first time. The Austrian, who came on against Frankfurt in the 29th minute, set up his compatriot Zlatko Junuzovic for the first goal, and had a heavy influence on the game. The assist was Kainz’s second in ten Bundesliga games. ++

++ Birthday: A former Werder player, who still remains active, celebrates their birthday today. Özkan Yildirim, who played for Werder from 2011 to 2016, has turned 24. Yildirim celebrated his first goal for Fortuna Düsseldorf yesterday, which came in stoppage time against Union Berlin. Holger Berger deserves a birthday wish too, as the physiotherapist turns 62. Berger has been with SV Werder since 1985. +++
