+++ Player of the season: Fully deserved: Werder fans have voted Claudio

Pizarro as their Player of the Season. After netting two goals in the first

half of the campaign, Pizarro found his groove in the second half of the season

and delivered one goal after the other. In Leverkusen he became the oldest player

ever to score a hat-trick and against Mainz Pizarro matched the all-time

scoring record at Werder of Marco Bode, before claiming the top spot for

himself with his strike against Hannover. Chairman Bode is delighted with this,

but joked that "I was actually against having him return to Werder because

I fully expected this. Jokes aside, his goals were extremely important for us

and it's just great to have him in our team."

+++ Expert discussions: One of the highlights took place on the stage as Werder's general management trio of Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald, Klaus Filbry and Frank Baumann were engaged in an discussion together. They spoke about Werder's new marketing campaign, pre-season, the transfers that have taken place so far and potential further new signings. "We are still looking. We want to have an adequate right back replacement. Perhaps we will be able to present someone by next week," said sporting director Frank Baumann.

 

+++ Memorabilia: There were plenty of events for fans and spectators to get involved in. Whether it was designing shirts, a tour through the team bus or simply listening to the live music by provided by "Afterburner". A picture wall was set-up for fans to have their photos taken together with Wiedwald, Pizarro and Fritz, all while standing on the sailing vessel "Gorch Fock".
