+++ A tight schedule: The training camp in Neuruppin is over. Werder put in some really hard work in Brandenburg, and have laid the foundations for the new season. The players have been back in Bremen since Saturday evening, but pre-season is not over yet. On the contrary, a very busy week awaits Fritz, Pizarro and Co. The Green-Whites have a number of open training sessions in the coming days (Monday: 15:00 CEST, Tuesday: 10:00 CEST and 15:00 CEST, Wednesday: 10:00 CEST and Thursday: 13:00 CEST), before they head to Austria on Thursday afternoon for their second training camp. The fourth friendly of pre-season will take place on Saturday, 23rd July, with SVW going up against 1860 Munich. But Werder also have plans off the pitch: the Media Day for the 2016/17 season is taking place on Wednesday at the Weser-Stadion, with the German Football League holding their official photo-shoot. +++

+++ Chelsea tickets on sale: SV Werder revealed last weekend that the Green-Whites would be playing against top Premier League side Chelsea in preparation for the new season. The Werder fans can look forward to a real cracker at the Weser-Stadion. Tickets are available now from the call centre and online, and cost ten Euros for the standing area and between 20 and 40 Euros for the seated area.

Home matches against Chelsea bring back positive memories for Werder. In 2006, the Green-Whites dumped Ballack, Drogba and Co. out of the Champions League in the group stage, after a 1:0 victory from a Per Mertesacker header. In 2014, Werder managed a 3-0 friendly victory over the Londoners, who at the time had players like Fabregas, Torres and Costa in their ranks. You can watch the highlights of this friendly once again on Werder’s YouTube channel. +++

+++ Kicker rankings and the Assist King: At the end of every season, Kicker Magazine looks back at the performances of every Bundesliga player and assesses them. The best players from every position are then sorted into the categories “World Class”, “Internationally recognised”, “top performers” and “noteworthy”. In Monday’s edition of the sports magazine, the rankings for defensive and offensive midfield were published, and there were four Bremen players mentioned. Florian Grillitsch (noteworthy) and Clemens Fritz (top performer) were among the list for defensive midfielders, acknowledging their top performances towards the end of last season. Zlatko Junuzovic was in fourth place in the best playmakers list. With ten assists, Juno was named the “Offensive Midfielders Assist King”. Fin Bartels made it into the noteworthy category +++
