++ Grillitsch joins up with the team: Florian Grillitsch has been unable to train with his team so far this summer after being forced to sit out with an ear infection. His individual training sessions have been over since Wednesday morning though and he is now in a position where he has been able to join in with the squad’s pre-season preparation. “Everything is good. It was a great feeling to finally get back out on the pitch and play football with my team mates after such a long summer break,” said the 20-year-old. +++

++ Eilers hoping for a bit of luck: Justin Eilers must have imagined his first days at his new club going very differently. However, muscular problems have meant that the striker, who moved to the Weser from Dynamo Dresden, has not yet been able to prove himself to his new team mates. He has been treated by the physiotherapists with light individual training. “There isn’t ever a good time to get injured but I’d prefer for it to happen now than at the most intense part of pre-season,” said the 28-year-old. +++

++ Moisander and Yatabaré working together: New recruit Niklas Moisander and Sambou Yatabaré have got to know each other especially well ahead of the new season as they have been completing almost identical rehabilitation plans. Just as on Tuesday, the two of them were both on the pitch in the Volksparkstadion to work on their recoveries with fitness coach Axel Dörfuss. The rest of the team will have to leave them on one side for now but the circuits of runs slowly increasing in intensity, sprints and turns are looking to be going well. +++

++ Muscular problems, part II: Thanos Petsos has also been keeping the Werder fans waiting to see him. The new recruit from Rapid Vienna has also been sidelined with slight muscle problems and has been training individually rather than with the team. The midfielder was unavailable for the Green-Whites’ friendly against VSG Altglienicke on Tuesday. +++

++ Heart stopping moment for Luca Caldirola: The centre back, who has returned from his loan at Darmstadt, has only been available for Werder for a few days. He was involved in a collision with Clemens Fritz at training and was forced to leave the field early. The Italian made the short trip home to the hotel with his ankle heavily strapped. “It’s all good, it only hurt immediately after,” said Caldirola when speaking a little later to WERDER.DE. +++
