Midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic will become the permanent captain of Werder Bremen as of next season. He has been serving as vice-captain to Clemens Fritz, but Fritz is retiring from football this summer. Head coach Alexander Nouri announced this in Tuesday’s press conference.

“Zlatko has captained the side very well over the last few weeks. He has my full trust and will wear the captain’s armband next season,” said Nouri. “It’s a special honour for me. I’m aware of the responsibility which comes with this role and will give everything to carry out my duty to the best of my ability,” said Junuzovic.
