Midfielder Junuzovic took part in an intense day of training on Tuesday, as the team started the day indoors in the gym, before undergoing some running exercises in the afternoon. According to Werder head coach Alexander Nouri, the Austrian should be available for this weekend’s game against FC Bayern.
Meanwhile, Aron Johannsson went through some coordination, ball and running exercises by himself. Just like Junuzovic, the America was also forced to sit out of the BVB game at the weekend with calf problems. “I hope to be able to return to training on Wednesday or Thursday – that would be super,” commented Jóhannsson to WERDER.DE after his session. Nouri however, didn’t want to give an exact prognosis for the striker’s condition: “With Aron we can't give an exact date for his return,” explained Nouri.
Serge Gnabry, who had to be subbed off with a stomach virus in the first half against Dortmund, also sat out of training on Tuesday. The winger could however be available again for the clash with Bayern on Saturday. “He was doing a lot better today. We’re optimistic he’ll be able to train again tomorrow – whether that’s individually or with the team remains to be seen,” noted Nouri on Tuesday afternoon.
