A new chapter of his footballing career will begin for Jérome Gondorf in the summer. The Karlsruhe born midfielder will be playing games in SV Werder colours from the upcoming season. The 28-year-old took the time to have a quick chat with WERDER.DE between his medical and signing his contract.
WERDER.DE: Hi Jérome, welcome to SV Werder. What convinced you to move to Bremen?
Jérome Gondorf: “I was totally convinced by the exchanges I had with Frank Baumann and Alexander Nouri. I felt very comfortable here from the get-go. On top of that, Torsten Frings gave me a lot of positive feedback on Werder and Bremen and I’ve already experienced the special atmosphere here in the Weser-Stadion as a guest. Now I’m looking forward to running around in Werder colours and experiencing the amazing atmosphere up close. All of the above arguments played a part in my decision to come to Werder.
WERDER.DE: What do you think of when you think of SV Werder and Werder fans?
Jérome Gondorf: “Werder are one of Germany’s top clubs for me. Special football has always been played here, and I remember, for example, the likes of Johan Micoud, Diego and Torsten Frings. It was always a draw to come and play the attractive and enjoyable football that’s on offer here. Werder are a club with successful history, and I hope that that continues. The fans are renowned across the league for creating a unique atmosphere and supporting the team unconditionally. Even if the game isn’t going according to plan, the fans make the Weser-Stadion a fortress. It’s all very positive.”
WERDER.DE: What goals did you have in mind when you made the move to Werder?
Jérome Gondorf: “I’m just looking forward to my time here. I want to develop further as a player and help the club achieve its targets. I’ve come a long way over the last half a year and want to continue pursuing this goal over the summer. I’m personally hoping that the quality of players here means I will raise my game, but the success of the team is what’s most important.”
