14 Werder players called up for the international break

The Bundesliga has only just got underway but there is already an international break coming up next week. A number of Werder players will link up with their national teams following the disappointing 6-0 defeat to FC Bayern. WERDER.DE provides an overview of what the 14 Green-Whites will face this next week. 

+++ Austria: Bremen's Austrian players are almost traditionally the biggest contingent of players who will be on the road with their national teams. Zlatko Junuzovic, Florian Kainz and Florian Grillitsch will take on Georgia on September 5th in a World Cup qualifier. +++

+++ Czech Republic: After a disappointing European Championships, the Czech Republic are looking to make a fresh start. Theodor Gebre Selassie continues to be part of new coach Karel Jarolim’s team who will play Northern Ireland on September 4th in a World Cup qualifier match. Before that though, they will take on Armenia on August 31st in a friendly match. +++

+++ Greece: New signing Thanos Petsos has been called up to the Greece national team. On September 1st they play the Netherlands in a friendly before they visit Gibraltar in a World Cup qualifier on September 6th. It will be Gibraltar's first World Cup qualifying match ever. +++

+++ Senegal: Senegal's national team have already qualified for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and sit top the standings. Werder's centre back Fallou Diagne has been nominated for their final group match on September 3rd against Namibia. It was the third call up for the 27-year-old after taking part in a friendly match with Ruanda and a qualifying game against Burundi. +++

+++ Bosnia and Herzegovina: 20-time cap winner Izet Hajrovic has been called up to represent his country for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Estonia on September 6th. +++

+++ Finland: Werder Bremen will be represented in Bastian Schweinsteiger's farewell match, as Niklas Moisander is included in the squad for a friendly with Germany on August 31st and the World Cup qualifying match against Kosovo on September 5th. The former captain of the Finish national team will return after an almost one-year absence. +++

+++ Germany U19: Werder youngsters Johannes Eggestein and Niklas Schmidt have games against Russia and the Netherlands with Germany's U19 national team. Both players were part of last season's championship winning U19 side at Werder. +++

+++ Switzerland U21: Ulisses Garcia has been called up for U21 European Championship qualifying games against Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina. +++ 

+++ Serbia U21: Milos Veljkovic also earned a call-up to his nation's U21 side and the 20-year-old is set to face Italy and Ireland during the break. +++
