A life without a smartphone - unthinkable for so many. Mobiles are also a standard part of everyday life for Werder pros too, whether it be on long away trips, on training camps or when they are off the pitch. We put one of the most important items of a Werder player under the microscope - what was the last picture you looked at? What was the last app you had open and who did you message most recently? This edition of my last time is all about Theodor Gebre Selassie.

#My last call... was from my wife. She had some pain in her tooth and luckily was able to get an appointment with the doctor quickly, so she phoned me to tell me.

# My last message... was to a technician. All of a sudden we couldn’t get the Sky channels on our television. I’ve been without it for a week now. Luckily I have another gadget for it but I need the internet for it so sometimes it is difficult (laughs).

# My last e-mail... I still don’t read them (laughs). We’re trying to find a new flat at the moment since our current one is a little bit too small. Noe is getting bigger and bigger but I know I’m going to stay in Bremen.

# My last photo... was of the training schedule in the changing room. I always take a picture of it so that if nobody sends it, I can on the WhatsApp group. There is nothing worse than not knowing when training is in the week. I’m somebody that takes a picture of everything, whether that be at the training camp, the dressing room or the Wifi key in the hotel. Just to make sure.

# My last post on Instagram… was a video of my son Noe at our last home game against Hertha. Everyone was singing “Lebenslang Grün-Weiß (always a Green-White)”. He really loves that song.

# My last song… was on the way down here to the stadium. I was listening to the new soundtrack of “Guardians of the Galaxy II”. It’s a great film that I’ve obviously already seen in the cinema.

# The App I used most recently… Spotify. I really enjoy listening to music, regardless of where I am and luckily you can download songs so you can listen to them offline.

# The last game I played on my phone… I must admit I do have a few games installed on my phone but I actually barely play any of them.

# The last time that I willingly turned off my phone… was never. I never do that since you know what happens if people can’t reach you. I have it on silent in the dressing room and keep it in my pocket. I never have it out. It is not a rule that we have to turn off our phones, it just isn’t allowed to ring or vibrate.

# The last WhatsApp group I posted a message in… was the one for our team. We write a lot of stuff in there but I don’t always looke when I see that there are 23 new messages.

# The last event I put in my calendar… was my mother’s birthday (laughs). Definitely not something to forget. Better to be safe than sorry!

# The last thing I would ever do with my phone… give out my phone number. I think carefully about who I give my number to. The good thing is that I only know the last three digits of my German number so I can’t even give it out quickly.

# The feeling I had last time I forgot my phone… That doesn’t usually happen. As well as a key and wallet, that is one of three things that I always check before I leave the house. If I notice that I’ve forgotten something, then I have to go back and get it. It’s been a long time since I didn’t have my phone on me constantly but that was a great time. You would agree in school for example what time you were meeting and then everybody would turn up. If somebody didn’t come, then you knew they didn’t have the time for it. Now you always have to move arrangements around. People were more reliable back then.
