Clemens Fritz: “There was a lot of nervousness in the first half. It was a frenetic game with both teams making mistakes. You could see that neither team was brimming with confidence. In the second-half, we were a lot better, but didn’t make use of the two or three chances we had. We also lacked that bit of quality with the final ball.”
Serge Gnabry: “We didn’t start the game very well, but were able to stay in the game for the duration. I think it’s a fair result and we have to live with it. We showed a lot of character in an intense game. To be behind twice in the derby and still pick up a point, will strengthen our morale.”
Alexander Nouri: “It was an intense 90 minutes in which both sides gifted each other a lot. You could sense the tension in both teams, with mistakes aplenty in the game. All things considered, we have to be happy with the point, even though we had good chances to score the decisive goal through Fin Bartels and Robert Bauer.”
Philipp Bargfrede: “There are a few things which we definitely need to cut out. It was positive to see that we could show a good reaction to going behind twice, but we set our goal much higher than a draw. The result doesn’t really help either team going forward.”
Fin Bartels: “In the first half, we had two or three good chances to score, but once again looked susceptible at the back. After the break, we were then a lot more organised at the back, but lacked that bite going forward. We definitely still could have taken all three points.”
Frank Baumann: “It was a classic derby. It wasn’t necessarily the best quality but very tough. We had some clear-cut chances in the first half and we scored our goals at very important stages of the game. We then tailed off a touch in the second half. We will find it difficult to be overly happy going back home with a point. It could have been worse, but the three points were there for the taking."
