This summer’s Olympic top goal-scorer had this to say to WERDER.TV after his first Green-White training session: “The lads have welcomed me with open arms, they’re a great bunch. I’m already looking forward to more training sessions and above all my first match for Werder.”
The attacking duo of Gnabry and Pizarro will however not feature against Augsburg. As Frank Baumann already confirmed before training, the Peruvian striker will not be ready for this Sunday’s encounter. “Unfortunately, he has not yet recovered, we’ll have to continue without him,” commented Werder’s sporting director. Sunday will also arrive too soon for our Argentinean left-back, Santiago Garcia, who did however train individually on Thursday.
Because of the current injury situation, head coach Viktor Skripnik and sporting director Frank Baumann have postponed their decision to confirm the first team and the U23s squads. Rafael Wolf will soon continue his recovery program with coach Alexander Nouri.
