That should guarantee a ticket to Poland! Germany U21s beat Finland 1-0 yesterday evening. Werder’s new signing Serge Gnabry was man of the match. The Olympic top scorer scored the goal for Germany last night with the help of the Finnish defender who deflected the ball into his own net. The team have now won 24 points under new head coach Stefan Kuntz and are on the verge of securing a place at the European Championships. Ulisses Garcia and Milos Veljkovic also represented their countries at U21 level on Tuesday evening. Switzerland dropped two points by drawing 0-0 with bottom placed team Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, Serbia celebrated an important 3-2 win over Ireland. Florian Grillitsch watched the Austria U21 side draw 1-1 against Russia from the bench. Likewise, Thanos Petsos was not brought onto the pitch in Greece’s 4-1 victory over Gibraltar.

Three other Werder players represented their countries on Monday evening. Niklas Moisander captained Finland in their 1-1 draw with Kosovo. Johannes Eggestein and Niklas Schmidt both featured for the Germany U19 team who lost 1-2 against the Netherlands.
