Werder Bremen will have to go without Serge Gnabry in Friday’s trip to Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old had to leave training early on Wednesday due to knee problems and was unable to take part in Thursday’s final training ahead of the journey to the Rhine.

Johannes Eggestein is also set for a spell on the sidelines. The 18-year-old attacking talent suffered a ligament tear while away with the Germany youth team and will be out of action for several months
