Theodor Gebre Selassie found the back of the net for the Czech Republic, but his goal wasn’t enough to secure a win for his nation. His strike in the 36th minute put his country into the lead against Norway, but was only enough for a 1-1 draw in the end.
For Gebre Selassie, who played the whole game at left-back, it was his second goal in the current World Cup qualifying campaign for the Czech Republic. Despite gaining a point, the draw means the gap between them and second-place Northern Ireland has grown to four points.
Just like Gebre Selassie, Thomas Delaney also played his last game of the season on Saturday. Denmark won 3-1 in Kazakhstan, meaning the midfielder can now enjoy his summer break. Just like in the friendly against Germany, Delaney played the full 90 minutes. With ten points, Denmark are currently level on points after six games with Montenegro in third place in Group E.
On Sunday evening, Niklas Moisander will be in action with Finland against Ukraine (18:00 CEST), while Zlatko Junuzovic, Florian Grillitsch and Florian Kainz could all feature for Austria against Ireland (18:00 CEST).
