Werder began their preparations for Saturday’s game against TSG Hoffenheim on Tuesday. Two players were missing from training, however, as Claudio Pizarro trained individually indoors and Jaroslav Drobny missed the session because of a private appointment. Left-back Santiago García was back doing individual ball work as he steps up his recovery from injury.

The Argentine trained separately from his teammates and said, “I’ve been waiting for two weeks and been working hard in the gym, but I’ve been able to get out onto the pitch in the last four days. I’m doing two sessions a day at the moment and I’m feeling really good.”

The Werder players had a session in the gym at the Weser-Stadion on Tuesday morning which included García, Fritz and Eggestein.
