A life without smartphones – for many, that would be unthinkable. For the Werder players, a mobile phone is a standard accompaniment on away trips, at the training ground and in everyday life. Above all, an iPhone or a Galaxy is essential, not just for the Werder first-team, but for Green-Whites all over the world. WERDER.DE takes a closer look at the Werder players and their devices. What they last used their mobile for, which App they use most and who they sent their last text message to. ‘My last time’ gives an insight into one of the most private and prized possessions – the smartphone. Today we talk to Fin Bartels.

# My last phone call… was with a golf instructor, because I’d like to finally get a decent swing. I’ve had a license for ages and played with a neighbour a few days ago. I was so bad that she gave me a voucher for some golf lessons for my birthday and I’m going to use it.

# My last message… was from my wife Jessi. When I was on my way to training she sent me some photos of children’s beds that she wanted to buy. I’m very lazy when it comes to messages and very rarely send texts (laughs).

# My last email… I only write emails when ist about something official. The last one was to my parents, explaining something about a property.

I use very few apps.

# My last photo… apart from the children’s beds it was a photo of my daughter. The big one was at the hairdresser’s. She wanted to get her long hair cut and the whole family was there.

# My last song… I mainly listen to the radio and don’t really listen to my playlists, but the last song I heard was David Guetta’s remix 'Would I lie to you'. That reminds me of the past. When the original first came out I was on tour with a few lads, other than that, I have a lot of children’s songs on my phone (laughs).

# The last app that I used… that was the weather app. I wanted to know what the weather would be like. I don’t use many apps.

# My last game on my mobile… I had 'Escape Room' on my mobile. That’s a modified version of Escape Rooms which is well-knowm. You have to solve little puzzles to escape the room.

# The last time that I willingly turned off my mobile… it happens a lot. Jessi gets annoyed with me because I never charge it overnight and then leave the house in the morning with the battery on 3% (laughs). I don’t do it intentionally, but if my battery is empty and I’m not expecting any calls then I leave it switched off. It doesn’t bother me. I don’t think I’ve ever knowingly turned it off, though.

# My favourite app… that’s a difficult one because, like I said, I don’t use many apps. It would probably be Sonos, because I use it to control my music at home.

# The last Whatsapp group that I wrote in… it would’ve been at the weekend a group with three of my mates. It’s called ‚Zebra-Herd‘ (laughs). We came up with this name when we went to Cologne for the Final Four and as THW Kiel are known as 'the Zebras', we chose to adopt this name. We often exchange messages in this chat.

# My last recorded appointment… I don’t have any appointments on my mobile. I get training times on whatsapp and, other than that, it’s just birthdays which I sometimes make a note of.

# The feeling I had the last time I forgot my mobile... as long as I’m not expecting anything important or need to do anything, then I find it relaxing to be without my mobile.

# The last thing that I would do on my mobile… would be to delete my contacts. That would be awful. I have no idea about back-ups or such things, I rely on the Cloud. But when my mobile broke, I lost everything and I don’t want that to happen again.
