Clemens Fritz will not be available for selection for SV
Werder Bremen in the upcoming week. The captain looks to have suffered a ligament injury. “We have to wait and see what happens over the next few days. We still
have some examinations scheduled before we can determine how long he will be
unavailable. But the game against Leverkusen is certainly out of the question,”
explained Frank Baumann on Sunday. Fritz was forced off after 39
minutes in the 2-0 victory over Darmstadt 98 on Saturday.
Zlatko Junuzovic also left the pitch before half-time after twisting his back, but will most likely return to full training in the upcoming week.
Thomas Delaney on the other hand took another step towards returning to the team. The Danish midfielder was in training on Sunday, wearing a mask specifically made for him. The coming days will show how well Delaney has recovered from the concussion and facial fractures.
Another first teamer currently playing the waiting game is Philipp Bargfrede. The 28-year-old has at least managed to return to the training pitch in the last few days, working on an individual programme with Jens Beulke.
