Justin Eilers and Philipp Bargfrede were back in training on Monday as both carried out a fitness session with physiotherapist Jens Beulke and also did some individual ball work.

Bargfrede, who has been out for weeks with a pelvic injury and recently carried out a rehab programme in Chiemsee, is finally starting to increase his workload. Eilers, who suffered some heavy bruising during last week’s friendly against VfB Oldenburg, has returned to training just five days after sustaining the injury.

Serge Gnabry is currently taking it one day at a time on his route to recovery. After the Germany international missed the win over RB Leipzig and had to turn down the invitation to join up with the Germany U21 squad, he is finally nearing a return. Having returned from his treatment in Munich, the 21-year-old has started the week by doing some individual training. Gnabry is readying himself for a return to fitness training, then he will hopefully be able to re-join the first-team.

Left-back Santiago García had to remain in the gym on Monday due to an ankle problem, but he is set to return to the training pitch for some running on Tuesday.
