Young striker Johannes Eggestein celebrated his return to the field during the benefit match held by Per Mertesacker and Clemens Fritz. The 19-year old was playing for the first time since tearing the syndesmosis of his left ankle in March during a Germany U19 game. He marked his comeback with three goals in a 7-7 draw.

"I have been working hard on my fitness and have had no pain since the end of May. My foot is still covered in tape but I feel no issue from the injury," said a delighted Eggestein. The Hannover native is hoping to continue his progress in the weeks and months and start training with the full team again in due course.
