Some of the Werder players will have to wait a little longer before they can begin their summer holidays. Milos Veljkovic will join Serge Gnabry at the U21 European Championship after being named in Serbia’s U21 squad for the tournament. There will also be Werder players involved in international friendlies and qualification games this summer.

Ulisses Garcia has been called up to train with Switzerland for the first time ahead of their qualification match against the Faroe Islands. “This is my international call-up and I’m very happy to have this opportunity,” said Garcia. Initial preparation will take place from 24th-26th May in Neuenburg and then the second part of the training period will culminate in a friendly against Belarus on 1st June.

From the 5th June, Garcia will switch to Switzerland U21s’ team as they have a qualifying match scheduled for 13th June against Bosnien-Herzegovina.

Werder’s new captain Zlatko Junuzovic, Florian Kainz and Florian Grillitsch have all been named in Austria’s squad for the upcoming internationals. For Florian Kainz it’s a special feeling to be back in the international set-up after one-and-a-half years out: “At the end of the season getting selected is definitely a highlight form e. I’m very pleased,” said the man from Graz.

Niklas Moisander and Thomas Delaney are also set to join up with their countries.  Moisander is due to play for Finland against Lichtenstein on 7th June and then against the Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier four days later. Thomas Delaney will be involved in a game against a DFB XI on 6th June and then a qualifying match against Kazakhstan on 10th June.

The Czech Republic have called up Theodor Gebre Selassie and Jaroslav Drobny for their friendly against Belgium on 5th June and their World Cup qualifier against Norway on 10th June.
