U23 coach Nouri will take over first team coaching duties on an interim basis, as Baumann explained: “With Alexander Nouri we hope to create a spark in the team, a team which is having to fight a lot of insecurity at the moment due to the personnel changes this summer, recent results and injury problems. He has showed in recent years as coach of the U23s and VfB Oldenburg that he is capable of producing results even under difficult conditions. Furthermore, after picking up three wins out of four in the third division so far this season, he can join the first team with his confidence high. He is a scrupulous, ambitious teacher of football, whom we trust to lead the team in the coming matches. He will receive our full support.”
Alexander Nouri will face the press for the first time on Monday at 12:30 in the press conference ahead of the match against FSV Mainz 05.
Alexander Nouri started as the assistant coach at VfB Oldenburg, before being given the head coaching role in April 2013. In July 2014, Frank Baumann, in his role as director of professional football and scouting, brought him in to the coaching team of the U23s. In October 2014 he took over from Skripnik, who joined the first team.
