Defender Leon Guwara is going on loan to SV Darmstadt 98 for the current season. “Leon has developed a lot in the past few years and performed well in the 3. Liga. We hope that he will be able to show his potential at a higher level than our U23 side on a regular basis and gain important experience through his loan move to a Bundesliga club,” explained Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann.

Leon Guwara moved to the Weser in 2014 from 1. FC Köln. The Germany youth team player has made 18 third division appearances as well as 25 appearances in the Regionalliga North for the Green-Whites. He made his Bundesliga debut in February this year away at Borussia Mönchengladbach and played against Bayer Leverkusen in the quarterfinal of the DFB Cup a few days later.
