Werder forward Max Kruse underwent a successful operation on his left knee on Wednesday afternoon. The procedure was carried out by Prof. Dr. Michael J. Strobel at the sporthopaedicum in the Bavarian city of Straubing. Kruse will remain there until Friday, before returning to Bremen.

The 28-year-old will then discuss the steps for this rehabilitation with the Werder medical team, headed by team doctor Dr. Philip Heitmann. Kruse suffered the injury to his lateral collateral ligament during the DFB Cup tie against Sportfreunde Lotte on Sunday and will remain sidelined for the foreseeable future.
