SV Werder Bremen ended
their pre-season with a 1-0 friendly match victory over fellow Bundesliga side
FC Ingolstadt. Manager Viktor Skripnik was pleased with his teams' display:
"It was good that we recorded a 1-0 win and kept a clean sheet against a
Bundesliga outfit."
Viktor Skripnik: "We played a good game against a fellow Bundesliga side and kept a clean sheet. We showed a lot of positives today. We have to keep going now and will continue to work just as hard but at the same time remain calm and not get hectic."
Frank Baumann: "As we stated before: results in pre-season friendly games are not our main concern. We secured a win against a league rival and I think we are on the right path. Results will start to matter when the competitive games start."
Clemens Fritz: "We had a good display against a very robust team. It was a friendly match victory against a top tier side. We showed several good moves but in the first half we struggled to find our rhythm. Ingolstadt made life difficult for us through their aggression and ability to win challenges - we have to present ourselves better in that regard. In the second half we could've taken more advantage of a few chances. But overall it was a good test."
Frank Baumann: "He's one week further than we thought. It was noticeable how important it was to give him time on the pitch in this game. He had a solid performance. He still has some catching up to do, but we are happy that he was able to play the full 90 minutes. He left a good impression."
Viktor Skripnik: "With Lamine we have to remain patient, but at the moment he is certainly able to help us out. It's certainly possible that he will start the game against Lotte. He desperately wanted to keep playing at half time against Ingolstadt. He showed his qualities in the air and that's what we expect from him. He's only been in training for about a week and still has to be more calm when on the ball, more present and better in challenges."
Clemens Fritz: "You could see on the pitch that he's adjusted very quickly to his new team. He was calling the shots in defence and overall played very well."
