There was plenty on offer at Werder’s first training session at Herzlake, bright sunshine, a number of Werder fans from the region and some players returning to the pitch. Florian Grillitsch and Theodor Gebre Selassie returned from injury to complete individual sessions.
New boy Lamine Sané, who had been in recovery from a knee operation, was able to train for the first time with the rest of the Werder squad. The Senaglese defender lived up to the fans expectations enthusiastically throwing himself into every challenge.
Claudio Pizarro and Santiago Garcia were nowhere to be seen for the 300 fans at the Aselager Mühle during the first day in Herzlake as they trained in the gym.
