“Fallou is a very well trained player, who has recently taken the next step in his development. At 26 years old, he’s already a seasoned central defender, who has gained experience both internationally in France as well as in the Bundesliga with SC Freiburg. Fallou is strong in the tackle and is also very versatile,” said sporting director Frank Baumann.
Fallou Diagne made the step up into the French top flight from the renowned FC Metz academy in 2008. The Senegalese central defender switched to SC Freiburg in 2012. He made 57 Bundesliga appearances and featured in five DFB Cup ties, before returning to Ligue 1 two years later. Diagne chased qualification for European competition with Rennes last season and was handed his international debut for Senegal in May.
