Midfielder Fin Bartels has agreed an early contract extension at SV Werder Bremen. The 29-year-old signed a new deal with the club on Friday morning, announced sporting director Frank Baumann.
“Fin has become a key performer since his move to Werder and is well respected within the team. We’re delighted that he can continue to be a leader in the coming years,” explained Baumann.
Bartels is also thrilled to carry on wearing Green and White: “I’ve made no bones about how happy I am here. That’s why everything was wrapped up so fast. Both parties had clear ideas and everything was agreed quickly. The city, the fans, the stadium, the team spirit – everything here is right. I’m delighted that my journey here will continue.”
Fin Bartels joined Bremen from St. Pauli two years ago. The Kiel-born midfielder has scored 14 goals in 66 competitive games for Werder, also providing nine assists. His goalscoring exploits played a big part in Werder staying up last season and reaching the DFB Cup semi-finals.
