The moment of his injury was lost in the noise in the Weser Stadion as the 40,000 fans in the stadium celebrated. Werder faced off against their direct competitor in the relegation battle, Stuttgart, on matchday 32. Yatabaré powered down the right-wing after about half-an-hour and crossed the ball into the box, where Baba turned the ball into his own goal. The Mali international managed to injure himself so badly putting in the cross that he had to be substituted and missed the rest of the season. The diagnosis was a muscle strain.

"Watching the final match from the stands was extremely hard for me but I am looking forward to the upcoming season now and hope that I can take part in our first game,” said Yatabaré.  .

The 27-year-old is working hard for a comeback to achieve this aim. The midfielder had been running and doing individual work even before returning to training, “Everything has been going amazingly well in the meantime. I was able to use the time well to recover. My personal training is similar to that of other players in the team.” He is still currently restricted to running and fitness exercises but he plans to be working with the ball again soon. “It’s a real pleasure to play football, I don’t really think of anything else.,” he explained. He also had an unusual simile to explain his love for the sport: “A life without football is like a pizza without tomato. The tomato makes life so special.”

Yatabaré is even more motivated ahead of the new season: “I have to work hard to get to the level that I was at before my injury. Then I would like to continue my development, establish myself in the team and improve every game. That is my aim.”

Raphael Wolf and Michael Zetterer are both back on the pitch and took part in individual goalkeeping programs. “I finally feel better. I have no more pain and hope that I will be available again in the not too distant future,” said Wolf.
