It’s time for the last international break of the calendar year. Ten Werder players, including two loanees, have been called up to their national teams. Joachim Löw has given Serge Gnabry his first call-up to the Germany national first team and will be part of the squad that faces San Marino in a World Cup qualifier on Friday 11th November at 20:45 CET. Four days later, Germany will face Italy in a friendly at 20:45 CET in Milan. Florian Grillitsch, Milos Veljkovic and Zlatko Junuzovic will not be travelling with their national teams due to injury.

We have summed up which Werder players are on international duty below:

Theodor Gebre Selassie (Czech Republic): The Werder right-back has been called-up to the Czech Republic first team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Karel Jarolim’s team will face Norway on Friday 11th November at 20:45 CET. Czech Republic need to win points in order to have a realistic chance of qualifying for the World Cup finals. Gebre Selassie will face soon-to-be Werder player Thomas Delaney on Tuesday 15th November when Czech Republic face Denmark at 20:30 CET. Jaroslav Drobny has not been called up to the squad due to injury.

László Kleinheisler (Hungary): Qualification for the World Cup in 2018 is more than realistic for László Kleinheisler and Hungary, who had such a successful tournament at the European Championships in France. They host group B underdogs Andorra in Budapest on 13/11/2016 (20:45 CET). They will then take on Sweden in a friendly match in the Hungarian capital two days later at the Groupama-Arena at 18:45 CET.

Sambou Yatabaré (Mali): The last time Sambou Yatabaré returned from the international break, he was celebrated as a hero back in Mali. The Werder midfielder fired his side into the lead against the Ivory Coast, sending the West African nation into ecstasy for a few short minutes. Mali eventually lost the match 3-1 against the current African champions but Yatabaré was still the man of the evening in the eyes of his supporters back home. Yatabaré and the Mali squad have the chance to rectify their defeat on Saturday, 12th November 2016 at 19:30 CET, when they will host Gabon. However the Gabonese also have a hero in their ranks, namely African Footballer of the Year and BVB top goalscorer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Fallou Diagne (Senegal): Fallou Diagne and the Senegal national team have a long journey ahead of them. After beating Cape Verde 2-0 in their opening qualifier, the Senegalese must now travel to South Africa in Polokwane. The 2010 World Cup hosts could only manage a draw against Burkina Faso in their first qualifier. Senegal would therefore give themselves a clear advantage over the South Africans with a victory on Saturday, 12th November (14:00 CET), who are equally tipped to win the group.

Aron Jóhannsson (USA): The American is back with his national team for the first time after his lon-term hip injury. The last time Jóhannsson played for his country was 14 months ago in a 4-1 loss to Brazil, but this time, Jürgen Klinsmann’s men will face Mexico on Saturday the 12th of November in Columbus (01:45 CET). They’ll then come up against Costa Rica four days later (02:00 CET). Both games are CONCAF World Cup qualifiers.

Michael Zetterer/Leon Guwara (Germany U21s): Like his teammate Serge Gnabry, Michael Zetterer is making progress in his DFB career as the Green-White goalkeeper has been called up to the Germany U21s for the first time. Leon Guwara, who is currently on loan from SVW at Darmstadt 98, has also been selected for the two friendly matches against Turkey (10/11/2016, 18:00 CET) and Poland (15/11/2016, (time not yet specified)).

Niklas Schmidt and Johannes Eggestein (Germany U19s): The Green-White attacking duo will meet up with their teammates at their training camp in Spain, where they’ll be until the 15th of November. Coach Frank Kramer’s U19s side will play the Czech Republic in a friendly on Sunday the 13th at 15:30 CET.
