On the last matchday of the Bundesliga, there will be a relegation showdown between Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt in a sold-out Weser-Stadion. The visitors have picked up six points from their last nine games and will be confident going into the game. "They’re on good form. No matter how they’ve done it, we need to accept that they’ve picked up the points and have resisted relegation," said head coach Viktor Skripnik. There is a lot riding on the game for both teams. Kick-off is on Saturday at 15:30 CEST.

Did you know that…

… Frankfurt have struggled away from home all season? The team from Hessen have just twelve points on the road this campaign and sit bottom of the away table. In 16 games, they have won just three.

… since Christmas, Werder have dramatically improved their home form? After the wins against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart, Werder have won two in a row at home for the first time this season, giving them confidence for the upcoming home game against Frankfurt.

... both teams will be missing important players? 29-year-old Fin Bartels will be out after picking up his fifth yellow card, resulting in a one-game ban. The visitors will be without Hungary’s Szabolcs Hustzi who is also serving a ban for the same reason.

… Pizarro loves a goal on the last day? Claudio Pizarro has scored five in eleven final matches in his career. The Peruvian striker is also in form, scoring 15 goals and giving three assists in his last 17 games. Only Robert Lewandowski has scored more goals than him in the Bundesliga in 2016 with 14 as opposed to Piza’s 12.

… Frankfurt’s head coach doesn’t necessarily have good memories of Werder? Niko Kovac met Werder 15 times and didn’t play against any other team more often. However, his record against the Green.-Whites is not great. With Leverkusen, Bayern, Hertha and Hamburg, he only managed four victories and lost six. He also lost twice against Bremen in the cup.

… Claudio Pizarro and Niko Kovac are former teammates? They both transferred to Bayern in summer of 2001 and won the double together in 2003.
