For the first time in 16 years, a Bundesliga game will take place on Monday evening, with SV Werder Bremen hosting VfB Stuttgart in the Weser-Stadion. It's a new experience even for captain Clemens Fritz, who has gone through a lot in his career. The team has vowed not to let the special circumstances affect: "For us as a team it's important to focus on ourselves and not on the timing of this match," said Fritz. Head coach Viktor Skripnik expects a tough challenge from the visitors: "We anticipate an opponent that will want to deliver a good performance and believes in their chance to win."

Find out here from where the two managers, Viktor Skripnik and Jürgen Kramny, know each other, which Bremen player particularly likes to score against VfB (and is not called Claudio Pizarro) and which seven players are in danger of picking up a suspension in the run-in to this season.

Did you know that ...

... Stuttgart's last victory in Bremen is nearly a decade ago?

On September 16th 2006 Werder took a 2-0 lead into half-time, following an own goal from Roberto Hilbert and a strike from Mohamed Zidan. Stuttgart turned the tie around after the break however, with Mario Gomez scoring the winner in the closing stages. The next eight home games ended in four Werder victories and four draws.

... a Werder player has scored double-digit goals in the past four seasons, this one included?

Like last season while playing for 1. FC Köln, Anthony Ujah has racked up a double-digit goal tally this campaign, but he's never scored more than ten goals in one season. Bremen's striker is currently on 13 goals in competitive games this season, which he last achieved in the 2012/13 campaign, playing for Köln in the second division.

... a Bremen victory would at the same time result in an anniversary defeat for Stuttgart?

VfB Stuttgart have competed in 863 away games in the history of their club, losing 399 of them. Their next defeat on the road would be their 400th.

... seven players are in danger of picking up a suspension?

Santiago García, Fin Bartels and Felix Wiedwald are one yellow card away from suspension on Werder's side, while Toni Sunjic, Emiliano Insua, Filip Kostic and Lukas Rupp would be sidelined for Stuttgart after their next booking.

... this is an anniversary encounter between Bremen and Stuttgart?

This will be the 100th time that Bremen face Stuttgart. Their record so far is quite balanced, with Stuttgart securing 34 wins to Bremen's 33 victories. 32 games ended in a draw.

... Werder scores more goals against Stuttgart than any other team?

SVW have bagged 169 goals against VfB in the history of the club - more than against any other Bundesliga team. Bremen have scored at least one goal in each of their last 24 home games with Stuttgart. Their last home match without a goal was on May 17th 1991.

... Anthony Ujah could've found his scoring touch just in time?

After all, Stuttgart is the opponent he scores the most goals against. In five games with VfB, Ujah has bagged four goals. The same applied in the return leg earlier this season during the 1-1 draw in Stuttgart.

... Viktor Skripnik and Jürgen Kramny went to "school" together?

The attended the Hennes-Weisweiler-Academy together in 2007, where they learned the craft of becoming a football manager.

... Dr. Felix Brych will be the referee in charge?

The 40-year-old lawyer from Munich will be in charge for a 22nd time with Werder involved in all competitions. This season he only officiated Werder's 2nd round DFB Cup encounter with 1. FC Köln. Overall the FIFA referee has made 212 Bundesliga appearances as a referee and 100 in the second division. His linesman are Mark Borsch and Stefan Lupp. Frank Willenborg is the fourth official.
