Bremen have to settle for a loss away in a sold out Allianz Arena against the record champions. The Green-Whites were defeated 5-0 with goals from Thiago, Thomas Müller and Lewandowski.

Line-up and formation: Viktor Skripnik was without Clemens Fritz and Zlatko Junuzovic through suspensions and Claudio Pizarro and Fin Bartels due to injury. The usual defence saw Veljkovic and Vestergaard sit in front of it, while Öztunali, Grillitsch, Yatabaré and Ujah went on the search for the a goal.

Early goal and Bayern pressure

Match highlights:

2' The first chance of the game falls to Bayern. Coman on the right of the area has an early effort, but Wiedwald holds it easily.

7' Chance for Werder! Grillitsch’s corner finds Vestergaard, but his header goes straight into the arms of Neuer.

9' Goal Bayern. Coman crosses in from the right side and Thiago guides it low past Wiedwald on the volley. Not a great start.

23' Ribéry tries a long-range effort but it fliers over the bar. Directly after, Wiedwald makes an important save from Götze’s shot.

31' Goal for Bayern. Coman cuts the ball back into the six-yard box and Müller volleys directly at Wiedwald; the keeper gets a touch but can’t keep it out from that close.

41' Thiago through on goal again but Wiedwald gets the better of the goalscorer this time round.

Wiedwald tested as Bayern score further three

46‘ Thiago again on the half volley but it strikes the bar and goes over.

61’ Lahm down the right side and he plays the ball into Coman who is open, but Wiedwald makes a great save low down.

65’ 3-0 Bayern. Ribéry volleys straight from the corner, Wiedwald parries it but Müller is on hand to put the ball in the back of the net.

86’ Goal, 4-0. Lewandowski takes advantage of a poor back pass and runs in on goal. He finishes it coolly past Wiedwald.

90’ Another goal for Bayern. Thiago gets on the end of another Coman cross and finishes low through Wiedwald’s legs. That’s the last kick of the ball as the ref blows for full time.

Conclusion: A deserved win in the end for Bayern. The home team proved too much for Werder, whose squad was depleted through suspension and injury. The home team were dominant throughout and made it impossible for Werder to get out of defence. A couple of the goals were unlucky, but the Green-Whites found it hard to cope with the overwhelming pressure that was being put on them. Werder will no doubt want to forget about this result and move on.
