On Saturday, the fate of SV Werder Bremen is in their own hands as the team face fellow relegation candidates Frankfurt. A win would be enough to guarantee safety, but anything less could be fatal. Tuesday morning began with a focused session in preparation for the season final. "We are very focused despite the pressure of the situation we find ourselves in. We will remain positively and go into the game with anticipation," said captain Clemens Fritz. With the blockbuster 6-2 victory in the last home game, there has been a lot said about the upcoming fixture, but Clemens Fritz has reminded us what is important. "The Stuttgart game was fantastic, the atmosphere too. But that is in the past and there’s a new game at the weekend. We will need to give our all again."

The visitors have put in some good performances of late, but Fritz and Co. will concentrate on their own preparation. "In the last few games they’ve played well, we know that. We aren’t thinking about that though and we’ll just get on with our training for the weekend’s game." The captain is aware of the difficulty of the task ahead, but insists that Werder will manage. "It’s all down to us. We’ll be relaxed going into the game, otherwise we’ll freeze up. We have to play well to get the three points."

Thinking back to the last home game, excitement begins to creep in. "Our fans are amazing. We hope there is a similar atmosphere this weekend. Such a good fanbase doesn’t come around every day. They’re great for the team and we have to do them justice on the pitch."
