There are easier weekends to endure than the last one for Werder. The atmosphere at the start of the week following the Nordderby defeat is, however, still good. "I woke up this morning and felt positive again. I am confident that we will stay up," said Fin Bartels. "You can see it in the team. We are holding together. This solidarity is very important. We have also showed a lot of character throughout the season. After every setback we’ve stood up to it and gone again."

Confidence and belief is all that is needed. That is the key, as Bartels describes, that will open the door to staying in the league. "We won’t let what’s being said or our own mistakes get to us." And as to whether they’re scared? "Nervousness would just make the situation more difficult. We’re at a crucial point in this battle. We can’t think about what happened for the whole week or have regrets. We will only get where we need to be by working," said Ujah.
