Before Werder’s international players were able to relax and put their feet up on Easter Sunday, four of them had matches scheduled for Saturday. As well as Zlatko Junuzovic, Laszlo Kleinheiser and Leon Guwara also made appearances. Ulisses Gercia was an unused substitute.

Junuzovic celebrated a successful Saturday evening, as Austria triumphed in a 2-1 victory over Albania. The midfielder gave the assist to Marc Janko (FC Basel) in the sixth minute as the Austrians took the lead. Junuzovic had a great chance to put the game to bed and make the score 3-1 in the 57th minute but he shot just wide of the goal. Austria will play their next international on Tuesday, 29th March against Turkey in the Wiener Ernst-Happel-Stadion.

Werder’s new winter recruit, Laszlo Kleinheisler is currently away with the Hungarian national side. The team, who are led by the German coaching duo of Bernd Storck and Andreas Möller, faced off against Croatia on Saturday night. The match finished 1-1 and Kleinheiser played 80 minutes before being taken off for Dániel Böde (Ferencváros Budapest).

The Germany U20s ended their round of internationals on Saturday afternoon. Just like on Wednesday, 23rd March, the DFB-team played out a 1-1 draw with the confederates. Leon Guwara played on the left-wing for the entire match. DFB-coach Frank Wormuth’s team finished the tournament in fourth place with six points, behind Italy (9), Poland (8) and Switzerland (7).

It was a similar story in the final match as the Switzerland U21 national team drew 1-1 with England. Heinz Moser’s team’s still have more games to play in order to qualify for the 2017 European Championship in Poland. Switzerland are second in their group with eight points after the draw with table toppers England (11). Ulisses Garcia did not make an appearance.
