Disappointment was clearly visible on the faces of SV Werder Bremen players and officials after the final whistle. Everyone knew that a 2-0 defeat to newly-promoted FC Ingolstadt 04 was far from the result they were looking for. Werder were unable to build on their strong performances on the road so far this season, wasting too many chances. Bremen's next opponents SV Darmstadt play with a similar style to that of FCI. "We are not satisfied with our performance today and have to learn from it quickly," explained sporting director Thomas Eichin after the game. One thing is certain: "We must put points on the board soon."

WERDER.DE was in the mixed zone at Ingolstadt's Audi-Sportpark to round up all the reaction from those involved, including head coach Viktor Skripnik's view on the defeat.

Thoughts on the game:

Jannik Vestergaard: "Our opponents were dangerous from set-pieces. They scored twice, we didn't score at all. That's how you lose games - it's as simple as that. We actually didn't allow them to too many chances, but still conceded two goals - that hurts. We wanted to play long balls over the top in order to avoid their pressing. We are currently not looking to win any prizes by playing attractive football. The relegation battle remains tight and we need to continue working hard and giving our all."

Lukas Fröde: "The disappointment is huge. We had a lot of plans for this game and are disappointed to have lost. We have to put this game behind us quickly and look ahead in order to collect points and distance ourselves from the relegation zone. Every game is important now. We have to keep pushing forward and we will win again."

Viktor Skripnik: "We once again forgot to score. One team scored goals from nothing, while the other let good chances go to waste. In the end we are left standing without any points. We needed players with a fighting attitude in the first half. It's a shame that they scored from their first chance. We are very disappointed."

Felix Wiedwald: "For long spells of the game we lacked fluency and often played long balls forward, which made it difficult to find a rhythm. We have to start collecting points to improve our position in the table."

Anthony Ujah: "We tried to get back into the match the entire 90 minutes, but it was very tough today. We didn't play well."

Thomas Eichin: "When we tried playing fluent football, we actually played quite well. I can't criticise the team for their performance in the second half. But our first half performance was simply not good enough."

Thoughts on FC Ingolstadt's playing style:

Lukas Fröde: "We knew what type of game this would be. Unfortunately we lost due to their set-pieces. It's annoying when you're trying to play forward quickly, but the opponent keeps sitting deep. That's no excuse though. We just have to stay calm."

On the upcoming home game with Darmstadt:

Anthony Ujah: "Every game is like a final for us. Our fans aren't happy and neither are we. The team knows that the fans will stand behind us in every match."

Thomas Eichin: "We have to collect points again, we are well aware of that. Our opponent next Saturday has a similar style of playing football as Ingolstadt. We need to make sure we get back up again."

Viktor Skripnik: "The situation has gotten worse, but it's not a situation that is new to us. We are also able to deliver good performance in critical moments. That gives us hope for our next match against Darmstadt."
