Werder's fitness Yann-Benjamin Kugel was released from the Bremen-Ost clinic on Wednesday morning. After collapsing during winter training camp and being brought to hospital in Antalya, the 31-year-old spent the past few days in Bremen clinic, being intensively checked out cardiologically and neurologically. The reason for the collapse, which happened during a run in Belek, was determined to be a stomach inflammation which Kugel picked up during his winter holiday in Egypt and had before coming to the training camp.
"I am happy that nothing serious was diagnosed. I will rest a couple days before returning to my work with the team," said Kugel. "I had superb supervision with Götz Dimanski, the Turkish and German doctors. My coaching colleagues and many players called me or sent me text messages. That really helped."
