Reigning Women's World Cup Champion, Maren Meinert drew the team pairings for the quarter final of the German Cup and awarded SV Werder a home game against Hertha BSC Berlin. The match will be held on 2/3 December 2003 and decide which team advances to the next round.
"We've got our wish for a home game, against a formidable contender, though." Werder's head coach Thomas Schaaf commented after the draw, adding:"Hertha boasts a strong squad even at a phase when their games have fallen on hard times."
Werder had won 3:0 at the Olympic stadium in Berlin at kick-off games of the Bundesliga. "One can't compare; this match in the German Cup is a completely new challenge.", explained Schaaf.
Werder's midfielder Paul Stalteri is glad about the pairing and confidently remarked:"The main thing is we're going to play a home game. We can bust anyone at home side."
