One day after the Christmas party, Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf had his players undergo a lactate test. The Werder group including the coach ran some laps on the Tartan track at the Platz 11 grounds and concluded it with a conditioning test. Not on hand were Aaron Hunt, captain Torsten Frings, Claudio Pizarro and Dominik Schmidt. Pizarro and Schmidt were suffering from "slight muscle problems", according to Schaaf. Frings meanwhile passed on the performance test due to an infection while Hunt missed the test after a slightly bruised hip suffered in the Borussia Dortmund game.

Marko Arnautovic celebrated a mini-comeback as the Austrian, who had to leave Friday’s training early with adductors problems and did not travel with the team to Dortmund, is expected to return to team training this week. "I will be back on Wednesday," said the striker. That is also the next training for the team as Schaaf gave the team off for Tuesday.
