In Werder Bremen's third and final friendly match to finish off the 2009-10 season, the Green-Whites beat the VSK Osterholz-Scharmbeck amateurs 3-1 (2-1). In front of 3,000 fans at Wald Stadium, Bremen were unable to put together a goal scoring festival and were challenged the full 90 minutes.

In the game against the Oberliga league side, Sebastien Mielitz stood in goal with Naldo, Sebastian Prödl, Clemens Fritz and Aymen Abdennour in defence while captain Torsten Frings Aaron Hunt, Peter Niemeyer and Philipp Bargfrede made up the midfield. In attack were the two top goal scorers of the previous two matches Sandro Wagner and Markus Rosenberg. The Werder goals were scored by Torsten Frings from the spot (7'), Sandro Wagner (16') and Sebastian Prödl (75').

The conditions of the pitch at Wald Stadium were a concern and Sandro Wagner strained a ligament in the second half. "That is too bad. We wanted to give the fans something pleasant but that was not really possible," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf.
