Werder Bremen won their test match against FSV Frankfurt 2-1 in the opening of the Volksbank Stadium.
Hugo Almeida scored the first goal in the 44th minute and Philipp Bargfrede made it 2-0 in the 55th. Pa Saikou Kujabi hit a consolation goal for Frankfurt in the 81st. The game as well as the television broadcast on Hessischer Rundfunk were impaired by a heavy thunderstorm which drifted over Frankfurt-Bornheim after about half an hour.
The most interesting personnel move for the Green-Whites was the return of Tim Borowski, who one day after his transfer was placed directly into the starting line-up in the defensive midfield alongside Torsten Frings and played a fine game in front of 10,500 spectators.
